Cairo, November 10 – Senior officials, business leaders, and investors from China and Egypt convened in Cairo for the first China-Egypt Investment Forum, focusing on identifying new growth drivers for bilateral investment and trade cooperation.
Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib reaffirmed his government’s commitment to expanding economic collaboration, emphasizing efforts to attract more Chinese investments and strengthen joint production aimed at export markets.
China’s Vice Minister of Commerce Ling Ji highlighted that China has remained Egypt’s largest trading partner for 13 consecutive years. He noted the success of the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, which now hosts nearly 200 enterprises, serving as a key symbol of the partnership’s strength.
Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang underlined that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) aligns closely with Egypt’s Vision 2030, fostering deeper cooperation in areas such as technology transfer, manufacturing, and infrastructure. “More than 100 Chinese entrepreneurs are here today, eager to explore new opportunities for collaboration,” he said, also encouraging Egyptian companies to seek opportunities in China.
Jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, and the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association, the forum gathered over 200 companies and featured discussions on textiles, renewable energy, and digital economy partnerships, paving the way for stronger economic integration between the two nations.
