The Wiggles have issued a statement reassuring families after a social media video featuring the children’s entertainment group sparked concern among parents and professionals. The clip, which circulated this week, was shared without the group’s approval and included drug-related references added through music and captions.
In a statement to The West Australian, the group said they understood the alarm. “The Wiggles do not support or condone the use of drugs in any form. The content being shared was not created or approved by us, and we have asked for it to be removed.”
The footage was filmed at the TikTok Awards earlier this month, where members of The Wiggles briefly appeared on stage with Australian artist Keli Holiday—real name Adam Hyde—during his performance of Dancing2. Holiday later posted the video with the caption “The Wiggles get it” while promoting his new single Ecstasy, which contains drug-related lyrics.
The Wiggles clarified that although Holiday is a friend of the group, the audio and edits added to the clip were created independently and without their knowledge. A spokesperson stressed that the group’s appearance at the awards had been entirely family-friendly and that the posted version “was edited separately and without our awareness.”
Founded in 1991, The Wiggles remain one of the world’s leading children’s entertainment groups, with Anthony Field now the only original member still performing. Hyde is also known as one half of the electronic duo Peking Duk.
