Beijing, Dec. 4 — Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron addressed the closing ceremony of the seventh China–France Business Council meeting in Beijing, reaffirming their commitment to deeper cooperation and global stability.
President Xi said that amid rising global uncertainties, the long-standing China–France partnership continues to serve as a source of stability. Marking the beginning of a new 60-year cycle in bilateral ties, he highlighted the strong momentum in economic and trade relations. From January to October 2025, trade between the two countries reached 68.75 billion U.S. dollars, with cumulative two-way investment surpassing 27 billion U.S. dollars.
Xi called for expanding collaboration into new strategic sectors, including artificial intelligence, green and digital economies, biomedicine, and the silver economy. He emphasized the need to strengthen industrial and supply-chain cooperation and ensure a fair, open, and predictable business environment for companies on both sides. China, he said, views France as an indispensable economic and trade partner and welcomes French participation in China’s modernization efforts.
This year also marks the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relations. Xi stressed that China and the European Union enjoy mutually beneficial and complementary economic ties, noting that interdependence should be seen as a strength rather than a risk. He urged both sides to safeguard the comprehensive strategic partnership and work toward a more constructive next 50 years.
Highlighting the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations, Xi reiterated China’s commitment to true multilateralism. He called for jointly upholding the UN’s authority, protecting the WTO-centered trading system, and advancing reforms in global governance.
Xi added that China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) will further advance Chinese modernization and expand high-standard opening-up.
