MIRPUR (AJK): Dec. 19: A high powered delegation of JKLF leaders from the UK led by Professor Raja Zafar Khan, Head of the JKLF Diplomatic Bureau, late Thursday presented a memorandum for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his office at 10 Downing Street, London, it was officially said.
The delegation included the party’s central chief organizer Sabir Gul, secretary diplomatic bureau Mahmood Hussain, and media manager Mahmood Faiz, a JKLF (Y) Chief Spokesman said on Friday.
In a detailed statement issued from party’s central information office today, the chief spokesman informed the media that the memorandum noted to British Prime Minister about the outcome of the non-resolution of the issue of Jammu Kashmir along with the injustices met with the most popular pro-freedom political leader of Jammu Kashmir Mr. Muhammad Yasin Malik, who has been in Indian jail for the last near about seven years on the concocted and politically motivated cases filed against him by the government agencies.
The memo referred to the inhuman treatment meted out to Yasin Malik and other pro-freedom political leaders in custody with the fabricated and fictitious cases filed against them by secret investigation agencies at the behest of the government of India, the statement read. While citing the lack of access to basic human rights such as health care during detention, besides the unilateral and unfair judicial proceedings, the JKLF leaders in the memo have appealed to the British Prime Minister to intervene and help resolve the Jammu Kashmir issue and save Yasin Malik’s precious life.
According to the statement, the memorandum submitted to the British Prime Minister has specially tried to draw his attention to the point of how the Indian government is using the courts to sentence a peaceful freedom-loving political leader like Yasin Malik to death penalty after serving him a life sentence. The memo has also referred to him as Yasin Malik being the worst victim of political vendetta, the spokesman added.
According to the party spokesman, the JKLF welcomed the holding of a party founders’ meeting in Birmingham, UK, on December 14 for the purpose of party unification. While endorsing the decisions taken on the occasion, the JKLF has highly appreciated the organizers of the meeting.
According to the spokesperson, the party founders unanimously expressed their determination to restore unity, stability and constitutional supremacy in the organization besides expressing their firm stand against the forces of chaos. They further decided to formulate a joint diplomatic, legal and political strategy for the release of illegally incarcerated party chairman Yasin Malik and holding of a joint protest on 11th February, the martyrdom anniversary of our national hero Muhammad Maqbool Butt, who was hanged in Indain Tihar jail in 1984 for leading the freedom movement of his motherland. The said meeting was jointly hosted by JKLF founding members Mr. Aslam Mirza and Mr. Nazim Bhatti and conducted by another founding member Malik Aijaz. Mr. Raja Muzaffar Khan was the chief guest of the event.
Meanwhile, yesterday, Muhammad Rafiq Dar, the spokesperson and special representative of the imprisoned Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, attended the death anniversary ceremony of Muslim Conference leader Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas.
While paying tribute to the deceased, Rafiq Dar in his address emphasized for making Azad Jammu Kashmir into a true base camp not the power corridor. He made a special emphasis on formulating a Common National Kashmir Policy. He further suggested working as a Kashmir nationalist patriot in diaspora and called for unity on common grounds and agreed national goals. While speaking for raising voices against Indian oppression in IHK, he said for the sake of success of the freedom movement Kashmiris need to highlight the freedom movement in the context of the national freedom struggle.
Spokesman made a special emphasis on turning Azad Kashmir into base camp, formulating a Common National Kashmir Policy, uniting on common grounds, and projecting the movement in its true perspective.
