MOSCOW — Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Russia is fully prepared to end the conflict in Ukraine through peaceful means.
Speaking at his annual press conference, Putin noted that Moscow has observed “certain signals” suggesting Kyiv may be open to dialogue. He emphasized that Russia is equally committed to resolving the conflict peacefully, based on principles outlined last June at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the elimination of the underlying causes that precipitated this prolonged crisis.
However, Putin added that Russia has yet to see any clear indication that Ukraine is genuinely ready to address the territorial disputes at the heart of the conflict.
During the conference, the Russian president also highlighted recent battlefield developments, stating that Russian forces were advancing along the entire line of contact while Ukrainian troops were steadily retreating. He said that these recent operations had decisively shifted the balance in Russia’s favor, particularly after Ukrainian forces were pushed out of Russia’s Kursk region.
Putin concluded that Moscow remains fully ready for negotiations but stressed that any settlement must carefully respect Russia’s security concerns and broader strategic interests in the region.
