MIRPUR ( AJK): January 1st: Commissioner Mirpur Division Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan Thursday visited the Free Kidney Dialysis Center at the Mirpur Divisional Headquarters Teaching Hospital and inquired about the conditions of the patients suffering from kidney disease besides reviewewing the treatment facilities provided at the Free Kidney Dialysis Center.
Dr. Tahir Mahmood, Chairman of Anjuman Falah-o-Behbud Insaniyat and in-charge of the Free Kidney Dialysis Center, gave him details about the free facilities being provided to patients at the Center. He said that more than 50 patients suffering from kidney disease were being treated free of cost in the center in three shifts, while there were also emergency patients. 6 more new dialysis machines were being installed in the center, while a dialysis machine has been installed separately in the Medical ICU so that those patients with kidney disease in the Medical ICU could get their dialysis done there instead of shifting them to the center.

Our Special Jammu Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports that while speaking on this occasion, Commissioner Mirpur Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan said that the people of Mirpur have been blessed by Allah Almighty that welfare institutions here are engaged in serving humanity alongside the government machinery. He not only appreciated the services of the Free Kidney Dialysis Center being run by the Human Welfare Association Mirpur at the Divisional Headquarters Teaching Hospital, but also assured full cooperation by becoming a regular member of the association.
Commissioner Mirpur said that such welfare projects are a ray of hope for the weak and deserving sections of the society and it is the joint responsibility of all of us to encourage them. He said that at present the Azad Kashmir government is spending a large part of the budget on the health and education department. Due to changing climate changes, the types of diseases were also increasing, for which the Azad Jammu Kashmir government has established a kidney transplant center at the Mirpur Divisional Teaching Hospital and a cancer hospital in Muzaffarabad, in addition to providing health facilities at the divisional, district and tehsil levels.
Tahir Mumtaz appreciated the performance of the association’s administration for establishing a free dialysis center for kidney treatment and bearing its annual expenses. He further said that most of the population of Mirpur lives in the UK, in this regard, philanthropists are doing their best for the welfare and service of humanity. On this occasion, Dr. Tahir Mahmood, President of the Human Welfare Association Mirpur, while giving a briefing, said that the Free Kidney Dialysis Center, established in collaboration with the Association and the Divisional Headquarters Teaching Hospital Mirpur, has been providing dialysis facilities without discrimination and completely free of cost for the past several years, where more than fifty patients are benefiting from free dialysis every day with the support of the public.
He said that this project is a milestone in the health sector in the history of the area. Dr. Tahir Mahmood further said that the Association for the Welfare of Humanity is also actively working to address the challenge of environmental pollution, under which a plant nursery project called Heal Earth has been started, which is playing an effective role in promoting a green environment and improving the environment in the area.
He said that keeping in mind the convenience of the relatives of patients undergoing treatment at the Divisional Headquarters Teaching Hospital Mirpur, a guest house project is also underway under the association, where accommodation and basic facilities are available.
The participants on this occasion paid rich tributes to the services of the Association for the Welfare of Humanity Mirpur and expressed their determination that all possible cooperation will be continued for the continuation and promotion of such projects in the fields of health, environment and public welfare.
