MIRPUR (AJK): January 13: Regional Committee of the National Action Plan here on Wednesday reviewed law and order in Mirpur Division, besides, the security situation, implementing of the decisions taken in previous meetings, it was officially stated.
Divisional Commissioner Mirpur Division Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan chaired, official sources told this Correspondent here on Wednesday.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chohan, Commander 333 Brigade, Deputy Commissioners Mirpur, Bhimber and Kotli, Superintendents of Police Mirpur, Bhimber and Kotli, and representatives of security agencies attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed in detail the implementation of law and constitution in the three districts of the division, establishment of law and order, movement of foreigners without visas, resettlement and evacuation, price control, elimination of encroachments, prevention of beggars, misuse of social media, registration of madrasas and mosques, communal harmony, monitoring of development projects, immediate resolution of public issues and use of modern technology, among many important issues.
The meeting expressed satisfaction over the implementation of previous decisions and progress, while it was decided to continue the full implementation of all points of the National Action Plan and said that the National Action Plan is a plan for national security and safety. No institution will be negligent or careless in implementing this plan. Each institution must fulfill its responsibilities. Thus, measures should be taken in the three districts regarding price control and quality control. Strict action should be taken against those who do not reduce prices despite the cheap supply of electricity and other commodities.
All district, tehsil and deputy level price control committees should be activated, magistrates should inspect in their presence and send regular monthly progress reports. Regarding illegal settlement and foreigners, it was decided in the meeting that legal action should be taken by compiling lists of those working illegally on visit visas, those holding fake identity cards and non-locals. Instructions were given to monitor the residence and movement of people coming from other provinces without any reason. The meeting decided to immediately eliminate the increasing number of beggars in Mirpur division and to start a comprehensive crackdown under the National Action Plan, declaring this problem a serious social and administrative problem. Instructions were given to take strict action against the facilitators and mafia of beggars.
Commissioner Mirpur Division directed for comprehensive registration of madrasas and mosques, preparation of complete data of students and teachers and introduction of digital data management system. For this purpose, emphasis was placed on developing a special digital app with the help of IT experts from Mirpur University. Expressing concern over the misuse of social media, the Commissioner directed the implementation of the applicable laws, action against hateful and illegal content and the establishment of a modern social media cell.
Describing the security of foreigners as very important in the current situation, instructions were given for effective security arrangements at the Mangla entry point, protection of foreigners on development projects, training of personnel and provision of modern equipment. The meeting also emphasized direct supervision of the district administration on development projects, surprise visits to health centers, prompt resolution of public issues and maintaining an atmosphere of trust.
Divisoonal Commissioner Mirpur, while directing the implementation of the electronic court system for public convenience, said that the problems of the people, especially the citizens of Mirpur living abroad, should be heard and resolved at the district and tehsil levels through Zoom and video conferencing. Finally, Commissioner Mirpur directed all the officers to ensure immediate, concrete and continuous implementation of the orders given in the meeting so that peace and order, economic stability and public confidence are maintained in Mirpur division.
On this occasion, DIG Police Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chohan said that the police force has made foolproof security arrangements to maintain peace and order in the division and the situation. Instructions have been given regarding checking at the entry points of the three districts to check the people coming and going, while the police will not spare any effort to prevent theft, robbery, drugs and eliminate social crimes.
