Cairo, January 14 (QNA) – The State of Qatar participated in the 49th session of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
The State of Qatar’s delegation was headed by HE Minister of Sports and Youth Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani.
The meeting addressed a number of topics related to strengthening joint Arab action in the youth and sports sectors, which included a set of proposals for youth and sports projects and programs planned for implementation in 2026.
The proposals included on the Council’s agenda included programs, activities and dialogue sessions, such as the Fourth Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum, the Ninth Arab-European Cooperation Forum, the Fourth Arab Youth Parliament Simulation Model, and the Third Arab Youth Salon. The agenda also features training courses on artificial intelligence, content creation, and youth awareness-building, as well as courses on cybersecurity and youth mental health. In addition, it includes the Arab Youth Excellence Award, the First Arab Esports Championship, and the League of Arab States Cup for Embassies.
The Council’s agenda also included proposals from the Ministries of Youth and Sports of the Arab member states regarding several diverse youth and sports activities, including the 10th edition of the Holy Sites Journey Program for Arab and Islamic Youth in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Nile Ship for Arab Youth in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Arab Youth Capital for 2026, and the Peace Marathon in the Federal Republic of Somalia. Other initiatives include the Arab School Sports Festival in Algeria, the Arab Women’s Clubs Championship in Sharjah, Manama as the Arab Capital of Sports Culture, and the 2026 Sports Games for Specialized Federations.
