MIRPUR (AJK), January 16 — Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood, emphasized the importance of modern technology for students while addressing a laptop distribution ceremony under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme at the AIOU Regional Campus Mirpur on Friday.
Dr. Mahmood highlighted that AIOU students are among the most deserving recipients of the scheme, as they attend online classes and submit assignments digitally, creating a greater need for laptops compared to students at other universities. He added that it is highly encouraging that 2,500 laptops have been awarded to AIOU students purely on merit.
During the ceremony, Dr. Mahmood, along with Director General Regional Services Dr. Malik Tauqeer Ahmed Khan, Director Students Affairs Syed Ghulam Kazim Ali, and Regional Director Mirpur Faisal Shahzad, distributed laptops among 60 students of the Regional Campus Mirpur. Students and their parents from Mirpur, Bhimber, Kotli, Jhelum, and Mandi Bahauddin attended the event, expressing happiness and satisfaction over receiving the devices.
The Vice Chancellor stressed that the purpose of distributing laptops is to align education and research with modern requirements and further enhance academic standards. He urged students to make effective use of digital resources in their studies and research.
Dr. Mahmood also advised students to use time positively, reminding them that time waits for no one, and emphasized the value of parents’ support and prayers in their success.
The participants appreciated the regional administration for the well-organized ceremony and congratulated the officials for promoting educational advancement through technology.
