Freezing conditions prevail in Kashmir

MIRPUR ( AJK).January 20: Minimum temperatures at upper reaches across both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir dipped below the freezing point at most places on Tuesday, with Sonamarg recording the lowest at minus 6.2 degrees Celsius, according to data.

In the indian occupied Kashmir Valley, Srinagar recorded a low of minus 3.4 degrees Celsius, while the temperature at Srinagar airport settled at minus 4.4 degrees. Gulmarg and Pulwama both registered minus 5.5 degrees, while Pahalgam recorded minus 4.0 degrees. Pampore, Anantnag and Budgam hovered around minus 4.5 degrees, a report reaching here late Tuesday from across the LoC said.

Kupwara recorded a minimum of minus 1.2 degrees, Baramulla minus 2.1 degrees and Bandipora minus 2.9 degrees. Kokernag and Kulgam were relatively warmer, recording minimums of 0.6 degrees and 1.5 degrees, respectively.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city and Katra recorded minimum temperatures of 7.4 degrees Celsius, while Jammu airport recorded 7.6 degrees. Banihal and Bhaderwah registered sub-zero temperatures at minus 1.6 degrees and minus 1.2 degrees, respectively. Udhampur recorded 0.8 degrees, Rajouri 0.6 degrees and Samba 0.4 degrees.

In Ladakh, Leh recorded a minimum temperature of minus 9.0 degrees Celsius, while Hanle was the coldest at minus 13.3 degrees, according to a report reaching here from across the line of control late Tuesday said.
