MIRPUR ( AJK): Jan. 26: Azad Jammu Kashmir Inspector General of Police Muhammad Yasin Qureshi has said that the police institution stands as ex exceptionally important as compared to other institutions in the state, whose responsibility was to implement the supremacy of the constitution and the implementation of the law, maintain an environment of peace and order for the citizens, protect the lives and property of the people and prevent social crimes.
The AJK police chief expressed these views while addressing the police ‘Darbar’ at the DIG Police Office here on Monday., APP AJK Correspondent reports.
“Due to the current circumstances and events besides increase in population, the government of Azad Kashmir was taking great interest in increasing the capacity of the police to further improve police performance, for which the police force will also be doubled and all possible resources will be used to provide the police with modern equipment and facilities.
“The police will be trained on modern lines, refresher courses and the communication system will be further strengthened to deal with crises. The manpower of police lines and police stations will be doubled and their accommodation needs will also be met. The promotions, transfers and their personal and collective matters of police employees will be resolved on priority basis”, the IGP revealed.
Muhammad Yaseen Qureshi conyi ued that the process of reward and punishment in the police should be in accordance with the law. Punishment should be for reform. From police constables to senior officers, everyone has the same self-respect as a human being. The police have more powers than other institutions. They should use these powers properly to solve the problems of the public and provide justice under the law and constitution. A lucky police employee is a paradise and an unfortunate police employee is a hell. The behavior of police employees with the public and complainants should be exemplary. As much convenience should be created for women police officers as possible. Police employees will be posted closest to their homes in the last months of retirement”, he aged.
A large number of police officers and constables including Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chohan, SSP Khurram Iqbal, SSP Anti-Corruption Mujtaba Rathore Agha were present in the police court. Earlier, when Inspector General of Police Muhammad Yasin Qureshi reached the DIG Office, he was warmly welcomed by Deputy Inspector General of Police Range Mirpur Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chohan. A well-dressed police contingent saluted and presented a guard of honor. Inspector General of Police Azad Kashmir Muhammad Yasin Qureshi said that there is a need to double the strength of police stations and police posts in Azad Jammu Kashmir. Police infrastructure is being improved. Police lines and police station buildings will provide police residential facilities. I will do whatever I can for the betterment of the police, including uniforms and other allowances for police employees.
He said that the Azad Kashmir Police has been working hard to maintain law and order, security and They have made countless sacrifices in the performance of their duties to eradicate crime. Azad Kashmir Police has fulfilled its responsibilities for the welfare and justice of the state in a good manner. He said that social crimes can be curbed with the cooperation of the government, police and the public. Police employees,he advised, should be role models for the society. If any kind of situation, accident, natural disaster and other incidents occur within the state, the police is the first to respond, for which the police have to go through difficulties and trials. The job of the police is a source of employment as well as to serve the people and provide them justice. He asked the police employees to maintain their proper attitude towards the public.
The IGP further said ” police employee is the only employee who does not need to introduce himself anywhere. He said that it is my endeavor that during my tenure, along with the retirement of the police employees who will retire from the service, I will also hand over the documents for their pension and increase in their pension in the next 12 years so that they and their families can get an increase in pension. History is also known”, he advised.
The IGP advised the concerned to take immediate action on the complaints of police employees, complete departmental inquiries quickly, and bring transparency in the promotions of employees. He said that no police employee should be transferred to cause him suffering, but wherever there is a deficiency, it should be corrected. Medical and other leave entitlements should be implemented as per the rules. He assured the redressal of departmental complaints submitted by police officers and employees.
