Doha: The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the State of Qatar hosted a formal reception on 4th February 2026 to mark the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution. The ceremony was attended by senior Qatari officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Iranian community, and distinguished guests.
Among the dignitaries present were HE Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Environment and Climate Change; HE Ibrahim Yousif Fakhro, Director of the Department of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; HE Ali Ibrahim Ahmed, Ambassador of Eritrea and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps; along with ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions, and other prominent attendees.
In his keynote address, HE Dr. Ali Salehabadi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the State of Qatar, warmly welcomed the august audience and expressed appreciation for their participation in commemorating what he described as a defining moment in Iran’s modern history. He congratulated the Iranian nation, particularly members of the Iranian community in Qatar, on the anniversary, noting that the occasion reflects the resilience and aspirations of the Iranian people.
Reflecting on Iran’s progress over the past five decades, the Ambassador highlighted significant achievements in science, technology, healthcare, and industry. He noted that Iran has strengthened its position in knowledge production, expanded knowledge-based enterprises, and advanced in modern technologies despite complex regional developments and international challenges. In the economic sphere, he pointed to growth in industrial production, an increase in non-oil exports, strengthened tax structures, and efforts toward building a more diversified and self-reliant economy capable of withstanding external pressures.
On foreign policy, HE Dr. Salehabadi emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran has pursued a balanced and dynamic diplomatic approach, focusing on constructive engagement with neighboring countries and emerging global powers while maintaining active participation in regional and international organizations. He reiterated Iran’s support for dialogue, multilateralism, and cooperation aimed at fostering peace, stability, and sustainable development, stressing that regional security is best achieved through collective understanding and collaboration.
Addressing recent regional developments, the Ambassador stated that Iran remains committed to diplomacy based on mutual respect, sovereign equality, and the avoidance of pressure and threats. He noted that while Iran has faced significant political and security challenges, it continues to defend its sovereignty and national interests while seeking peaceful solutions through negotiation and dialogue.
Regarding the situation in Palestine, HE Dr. Salehabadi stressed that from Iran’s perspective, the continued occupation, violence, and humanitarian suffering in Gaza have serious implications for regional peace and stability. He called for the immediate protection of civilians, unimpeded humanitarian access, and a just and lasting solution based on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
Turning to bilateral relations, the Ambassador described ties between Iran and Qatar as longstanding and rooted in mutual respect, good neighborliness, and shared cultural and historical bonds. He noted that relations have deepened in recent years, supported by high-level visits between the leadership of both countries, including exchanges between HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. These engagements, he said, reflect a shared political will to expand cooperation across economic, energy, trade, and regional coordination sectors, further strengthening stability and constructive dialogue in the region.
The ceremony concluded with renewed expressions of friendship and goodwill, underscoring the commitment of both nations to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and regional engagement.
