Tehran, February 08 (QNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that Iran is analyzing the round of negotiations held with the United States in Muscat on Friday.
Addressing a press conference, Araghchi added that the negotiations had exclusively tackled the nuclear topic, and should these negotiations be decided to continue in the future, they would remain at this formula.
The analysis of the outcomes of Friday’s negotiations is underway, and a decision on their continuation will be taken soon enough, Araghchi outlined.
He further noted that the overall direction of both countries at Friday’s closing negotiations had been to stipulate that the dialogue should continue, but the final decision ultimately hinges on the conclusions that will be reached in Tehran and Washington.
The similarities between the current round of negotiations and the previous one lie in the indirect negotiations brokered by the Sultanate of Oman, Araghchi suggested, noting that the discussion this time is likewise confined to the nuclear issue only.
He explained that Tehran has extracted lessons from the negotiations and the recent war alike.
Araghchi further elaborated that Iran entered these negotiations while taking into account everything that happened in the past. He pointed out that the first session was primarily of a trial nature, aimed at testing the reliability of the other party and the seriousness of their commitment to reaching a negotiated solution.
In addition, Araghchi emphasized that there are indicators of the seriousness of the other party, while some indications show otherwise. He added that Iran is following and evaluating these indications, and according to the analysis, Tehran will decide on moving ahead with the negotiation pathway.
