TUMBLER RIDGE, Canada (Feb 11, 2026): A tragic shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia left 10 people dead, including the suspected gunman, according to reports by Canadian public broadcaster CBC, citing the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
Police confirmed that nine victims lost their lives in the incident. Six victims were found inside the school building, one died while being transported to hospital, and two others were discovered at a nearby residence believed to be linked to the attack. Authorities said the suspect was found dead inside the school with what was described as a self-inflicted injury.
Approximately 25 individuals were assessed for injuries at a local medical center. A shelter-in-place order covering Tumbler Ridge and surrounding communities was lifted at around 6:45 p.m. local time. Officials confirmed that an investigation into the circumstances of the attack is ongoing.
The tragedy marks the second-deadliest school shooting in Canada’s history, after the 1989 École Polytechnique attack in Montreal, in which 14 people were killed.
Tumbler Ridge, a town of about 2,400 residents located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, lies roughly 680 kilometers from the US border.
