MIRPUR (AJK) – February 17 – A large gathering at Mirpur Municipal Hall on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to the late President of Azad Jammu Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, in a condolence reference jointly organized by the City Municipal Corporation and District Council.
The ceremony, chaired by City Mayor Chaudhry Usman Ali Khalid, was attended by elected members, employees of the Municipal Corporation, District Council representatives, and local officials. Speakers lauded Barrister Sultan for his lifelong dedication to the Kashmir cause, his role in promoting the region’s development, and his efforts to highlight the Kashmir freedom movement on global platforms.
Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Raja Muhammad Sadaqat, SSP Khurram Iqbal, Deputy Mayor Muhammad Ramzan Chughtai, Opposition Leader Chaudhry Abdul Razaq, and other council members praised the late leader’s exceptional intellect, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the state. They emphasized that Barrister Sultan’s contributions as President, Prime Minister, opposition leader, and veteran politician were unparalleled in shaping the political and social landscape of Azad Jammu Kashmir.
The joint session of the Municipal Corporation and District Council reiterated its commitment to carrying forward the vision of the departed leader, particularly his dedication to the Kashmir freedom movement. Speakers described him as a true ambassador of Azad Jammu Kashmir whose life exemplified selfless service, sacrifice, and leadership.
The assembly concluded with prayers for the departed soul, seeking eternal peace and a high place in the hereafter for Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, while pledging to uphold his legacy and continue his mission for the prosperity and freedom of the Kashmiri people.
