VIENTIANE, Feb. 18: The Lao state-run Electricite du Laos (EDL) will collaborate with its partners to establish a cybersecurity operations center aimed at protecting the country’s critical power infrastructure.
The initiative represents a key step in EDL’s ongoing digital transformation, as the state enterprise expands its digital management systems and addresses increasing cyber threats, the company said Wednesday.
The center will function as a high-tech command and monitoring facility, operating 24/7 to detect, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity risks affecting national infrastructure. With Laos increasingly relying on digital systems, the facility is considered vital for maintaining the stability, resilience, and security of the country’s electricity network.
EDL said the project is expected to boost public and investor confidence in the reliability and security of the nation’s power supply, while advancing its vision of modern, secure, and digitally robust operations.
The new cybersecurity center underscores Laos’ commitment to safeguarding essential infrastructure amid growing global cyber challenges.
