Kashmiri London Martyrs Remembered on 53rd Anniversary Across AJK, IIOJK, UK

MIRPUR (AJK), February 19 — Preparations are complete across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), IIOJK Pakistan, and the United Kingdom to observe the 53rd martyrdom anniversary of Kashmiri London martyrs Hanif Shaheed and Basharat Shaheed on February 20, Friday. The commemorations will honor their supreme sacrifice and reaffirm the pledge to continue their mission until the liberation of Jammu and Kashmir from Indian occupation.
According to Javed Malik, spokesperson for the Mirpur District Administration, integrated programs have been organized jointly by the AJK government, along with social and human rights organizations, at the mausoleums of Basharat Shaheed in Palak village and Hanif Shaheed at Markazi Eid Gah graveyard in Mirpur city. Residents, dignitaries, and participants from different walks of life are expected to visit the mausoleums, offer Fateha for the departed souls, and lay floral wreaths in tribute.
The chief organizer of the ceremonies highlighted that the annual observance is a reaffirmation of the Kashmiri people’s steadfast resolve, emphasizing that Pakistan remains the ultimate destination for Jammu and Kashmir’s populace. The events aim to maintain international attention on the principled and just resolution of the Kashmir issue, in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
As in previous years, the anniversary will include a renewal of the pledge to continue the struggle for the Kashmir freedom movement, ensuring that the mission of the London martyrs is carried forward.
The London Martyrs Memorial Society has announced that rich tributes will also be paid to Ghazi Dilawar, an associate of the martyrs, recognizing his sacrifice for the Kashmir cause. The society emphasized the continued commitment to the martyrs’ mission, pledging to advance the cause of freedom and uphold the Kashmiri people’s legitimate right to self-determination.
The commemorations across Mirpur, AJK, and the wider diaspora in the United Kingdom are set to be conducted with full respect, honor, and renewed determination, ensuring that the legacy of Hanif and Basharat Shaheed continues to inspire generations in the ongoing struggle for justice and freedom.
