Police Put on High Alert Across Mirpur Division Amid Ongoing Security Situation

MIRPUR (AJK), March 5: Mirpur Divisional Police Chief Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chohan has put the police on high alert across Mirpur Division following the ongoing security situation in the country, it was officially said.
Official sources told Special Jammu Kashmir State Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao that the step was aimed at ensuring foolproof security arrangements and strict checking at all entry points while reviewing measures taken by the police in the three districts of Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber.
As part of the initiative, DIG Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chohan conducted surprise inspections of entry points in Bhimber district and issued instructions to further strengthen security checking at police check posts. During the visit, he also inspected several police stations including Jatlan, Ali Baig, Kadhala, Farrang and Barnala.
The DIG also broke his fast with employees of Barnala and Moyal police stations and appreciated the professional performance and dedication of the police personnel.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chohan said the country was currently passing through a critical situation and warned that enemies could attempt to enter districts of Azad Jammu Kashmir in any form to carry out subversive activities. He stressed that in such circumstances the responsibilities of the state police force had increased significantly.
He assured that the police would leave no stone unturned to ensure protection of the lives, property and security of the masses, adding that no one would be allowed to enter district limits without thorough checking.
The DIG also directed the SSPs of Mirpur Division to keep security on high alert at entry and exit points, increase police patrolling and take strict action against suspicious elements.
During the visit, the DIG was accompanied by SSP Bhimber Raja Muhammad Akmal Khan, AC Barnala Dr. Rashid Khan, DSP Headquarters Bhimber Sheikh Abdul Rehman, DSP City Bhimber Rashid Habib, SHO Barnala Tariq Sulehria and other officials.
The DIG also directed authorities to take immediate steps for construction of a new building for Barnala Police Station due to its dilapidated condition.
