DOHA, March 5 (QNA) – HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani on Thursday participated in an emergency Gulf-European ministerial virtual meeting to discuss the repercussions of Iranian attacks on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and the serious developments affecting regional stability.
The meeting brought together the foreign ministers of GCC countries and the European Union (EU), along with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.
Participants reviewed the consequences of the recent Iranian attacks targeting GCC states and discussed the broader regional situation and its potential negative implications for international security and stability.
During the meeting, HE the Prime Minister reaffirmed the State of Qatar’s strong condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting Qatari territory. He also reiterated Qatar’s condemnation of attacks directed at other GCC countries and brotherly nations, emphasizing Qatar’s full solidarity with them in all measures taken to safeguard their sovereignty, security, and stability.
His Excellency stressed that the aggression against Qatari territory represents a clear violation of Qatar’s national sovereignty and contradicts the principles of good neighborliness. He underscored that such actions cannot be justified under any circumstances.
The Prime Minister further noted that Qatar has consistently sought to distance itself from regional conflicts and has played a constructive role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the international community. However, he said that the renewed targeting of Qatari territory does not reflect good faith and threatens the foundation of understanding upon which bilateral relations are built.
HE Sheikh Mohammed also emphasized the urgent need to halt all escalatory actions and called for a return to diplomacy. He stressed the importance of prioritizing wisdom and dialogue to contain the crisis and ensure the preservation of security and stability across the region.
