BEIRUT, March 8 – Lebanon’s Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine reported that at least 394 people have been killed and 1,130 injured in ongoing Israeli attacks since Monday. Among the dead are 42 women and 83 children, while the injured include 274 women and 254 children.
The escalation comes after limited rocket fire by Hezbollah amid broader regional tensions linked to the war initiated by Israel and the US against Iran. Despite a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah since November 2024, Israel has continued near-daily violations, resulting in significant civilian casualties.
The attacks form part of a wider offensive that began in October 2023, escalating into a full-scale war in September 2024. Over 4,000 people have been killed and 17,000 injured since the start of Israel’s campaign in Lebanon.
The Lebanese government has called for immediate international attention to halt the violence and protect civilians, stressing the urgent need for renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent further loss of life.
