Mega bakers, food out lets raided, fined for selling expired edibles in Mirpur-AJK.

MIRPUR (AJK): March 11 In the wake of the ongoing drive to discourage illicit profiteering and to ensure implementation if the instructions of the Azad Kashmir government for effective checking of price control during Ramadan, as per the schedule issued by Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Raja Muhammad Sadaqat Khan, Tehsildar Mirpur Chaudhry Imran Yousuf Wednesday conducted surprise checking of the large business centers Gourmet Bakers and other departmental stores located at Old Chungi and New City Gate and seized expired goods found from the outlet, it was officially said.

The Duty Magistrate Ch Imran Yousuf imposed fines on several food outlets for violations besides also checking the weight of the items in the packaging, District Administration spokesman later told this Correspondent here on Wednesday.

On this occasion, Imran Yousuf directed the shopkeepers to destroy expired goods and improve the quality of the goods to avert punitive action under the law of the land.
