DOHA: The Bangladesh Embassy in Qatar commemorated International Mother Language Day 2026 with solemnity and respect, honoring the martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement.
The ceremony, held on February 21, 2026, was presided over by H.E. Mohammad Hazrat Ali Khan, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Qatar. As part of the event, the embassy paid tribute to the language martyrs by placing wreaths at the National Shaheed Minar.
The occasion was attended by Brigadier General Ishtiaq, President of Bangladesh Cultural Academy Engineer Akhter Zaman Mamun, General Secretary E M Akash, as well as community leaders Shahidul Haque, M M Nuru, Iftekhar Chowdhury, Kazi Ariful Islam, and other embassy officials.
Speaking at the event, H.E. Mohammad Hazrat Ali Khan highlighted the historical significance of Amar Ekushey and the importance of preserving mother languages worldwide. The ceremony reflected the Bangladeshi community’s ongoing commitment to honoring cultural heritage and paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the Bengali language.
