MOSCOW: Russian and U.S. officials discussed the global energy crisis and prospects for economic cooperation during a recent meeting in the United States, a senior Russian official said Thursday.
Kirill Dmitriev, special envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin and head of the Russian delegation, said the talks focused on potential projects aimed at restoring bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in key economic sectors.
According to Dmitriev, the discussions also addressed developments in the global energy market, highlighting the role of Russian oil and gas in maintaining international economic stability.
He added that several countries, including the United States, are increasingly recognizing the importance of Russian energy supplies and questioning the effectiveness of sanctions imposed on Russia.
Earlier, U.S. presidential envoy Steve Witkoff said American and Russian representatives discussed a range of issues during the meeting and agreed to remain in contact for further dialogue.
