Doha, March 17 (QNA): HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HM King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan discussed regional developments amid the ongoing escalation and continued Iranian attacks targeting Qatar, Jordan, and several countries in the region.
During talks held at the Amiri Diwan on Tuesday afternoon, HH the Amir affirmed Qatar’s solidarity with Jordan regarding all measures taken to defend its sovereignty, safeguard its security, and ensure the safety of its citizens.
For his part, HM King Abdullah II renewed Jordan’s solidarity and full support for the steps taken by the State of Qatar to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability in light of the current developments.
Both leaders strongly rejected the attacks and stressed the urgent need to immediately halt all military actions that could widen the conflict and threaten the security and stability of countries and their peoples across the region.
The two sides also emphasized the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions and contain the current crisis. They underlined the need to pursue diplomatic solutions and dialogue to address ongoing challenges in a way that prevents further deterioration and contributes to strengthening regional security and stability.
The leaders also discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, stressing the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two countries, particularly in light of the evolving developments and their implications for regional peace and stability.
HH the Amir and HM King Abdullah II also held a bilateral meeting where they reviewed relations between the two sisterly countries and explored ways to further enhance cooperation. They also exchanged views on key regional and global issues, especially the current crisis and its impact on international peace and security.
The meeting was attended by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, senior officials, and members of the Jordanian delegation accompanying HM the King.
