Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine is ready to implement a ceasefire with Russia during the upcoming Orthodox Easter holiday as part of efforts to reduce hostilities and move toward peace.
Zelensky stated that Ukraine supports any initiative aimed at ending the conflict while preserving the country’s dignity, sovereignty, and independence. He added that proposals under discussion include a full ceasefire and a ban on strikes targeting energy infrastructure.
This year, Orthodox Easter will be observed in both Ukraine and Russia on April 12, and the proposed ceasefire is seen as a potential confidence-building step toward broader peace negotiations.
