Indonesian Economy Minister Airlangga Hartarto addressed rising domestic flight ticket prices at a press conference, according to Antara News Agency.
Hartarto announced that due to rising aviation fuel costs caused by the ongoing Middle East conflict, domestic flight ticket increases would be limited to between 9 and 13 percent. The government has allowed fuel surcharge adjustments of up to 38 percent above the upper ticket price limit to manage costs effectively.
He added that tax exemptions and other policy measures would also be implemented to stabilize prices.
Earlier, on March 31, the Indonesian government mandated a remote work schedule for public employees every Friday to ease fuel and energy demand. From April 1, subsidized fuel purchases—excluding public transport vehicles—were restricted to 50 liters per vehicle per day.
The move comes amid a de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz
