MIRPUR (AJK): April 8: Brussels-based Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) has lauded Pakistan for facilitating the two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States through its excellent mediation highly commendable.

In a statement, reaching and released to the media here Wednesday night, Chairman of the organization Ali Raza Syed said “this is a significant and positive development. The political and military leadership of Pakistan has played an effective role in addressing a complex and challenging conflict, which deserves appreciation. Ali Raza Syed said, We hope that during this two-week ceasefire, a permanent and sustainable solution to the issue will be achieved through the constructive talks. War is not a solution while it creates further complications.

Chair of KCEU described that through its diplomatic efforts, Pakistan has helped steer the international community away from a major crisis. This step is expected to promote peace and stability in the region and pave the way toward a lasting ceasefire and durable peace and stability. The positive impact of this development may also be reflected in other regional conflicts, particularly the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where innocent people are deprived of their rights including right to self determination for a long time. India denies their right to self-determination since 1947. In the current circumstances, opportunities have increased for Pakistan to highlight the Kashmir issue to the maximum extent, and this situation should be fully utilized.

We urge the international community to play an active role in ensuring a peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir issue. Pressure should be exerted on India to end human rights violations against the Kashmiri people and to grant them their right to self-determination. The Kashmir dispute must be resolved on a permanent basis in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people and relevant United Nations resolutions.
