Under the slogan “Towards a Society Aware of Its Rights” the National Human Rights Committee has launched its annual awareness campaign to promote human rights education across schools universities and public institutions.
The campaign began with visits to primary preparatory and secondary schools as well as universities and was inaugurated with a lecture at Al Salam Fourth School.
Mr Hamad Al Hajri Director of Programs and Education at the committee said the campaign forms part of broader efforts to spread awareness of human rights under the fourth objective of its 2024–2030 strategy aimed at expanding human rights culture throughout society.
He said the committee launched this year’s campaign in schools because educating children from an early age helps prevent future violations and supports building a society based on justice dignity and mutual respect.
Al Hajri stressed that understanding rights and responsibilities is essential for individual and social development and remains the foundation of freedom justice and peace.
He added that investing in awareness among young people helps prepare future generations to become responsible members of society and active contributors to national development.
The campaign includes workshops and training materials introducing students to the committee’s mission goals and vision along with the principles of human rights and lectures on child protection in a safe digital environment.
Ms Safaa Abu Nada Principal of Al Salam Fourth School praised the initiative saying it strengthened students’ awareness of digital rights and promoted safe responsible use of digital platforms.
Mr Abdulrahman Al Hammadi also delivered a session on protecting children online highlighting digital risks and protection measures under international human rights law.
He noted that the digital age has created an open environment without boundaries making awareness and online protection more important than ever.
