Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday held a telephone conversation focusing on recent diplomatic developments involving talks between the United States and Iran.
According to Turkish diplomatic sources, the two ministers reviewed the current situation and discussed possible steps in the coming days as regional tensions remain high.
The exchange comes amid heightened diplomatic activity following indirect and direct engagements between Washington and Tehran, facilitated through regional mediation efforts.
Officials said the conversation also reflected ongoing coordination between Ankara and Islamabad on regional peace and stability, particularly in light of fragile ceasefire arrangements and evolving geopolitical conditions.
Regional developments remain tense following reported casualties in recent months from conflict-related strikes and retaliatory actions across several areas, increasing international concern over escalation risks.
Pakistan, which has played a mediating role in facilitating dialogue, recently hosted rare talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad aimed at reducing tensions and exploring diplomatic solutions. Those discussions, however, concluded without agreement.
Diplomatic sources indicate that a second round of negotiations is expected in Islamabad soon at Pakistan’s invitation, as efforts continue to sustain dialogue and prevent further escalation.
Pakistan’s leadership is also expected to continue diplomatic outreach to regional partners, including upcoming visits by senior officials aimed at supporting peace initiatives and strengthening cooperation with key countries.
