BRUSSELS, April 23 — The European Union has formally approved a 90-billion-euro (105 billion U.S. dollars) financial assistance package for Ukraine, European Council President Antonio Costa announced on Thursday.
In a social media post, Costa confirmed the funding program has been officially greenlit by the bloc. He said the EU’s approach to achieving a “just and lasting peace” in Ukraine rests on two pillars: strengthening Ukraine’s resilience and increasing economic and political pressure on Russia.
