The United States has indicated a renewed willingness to engage diplomatically with Iran following recent communication signals from Tehran, underscoring ongoing efforts to reduce regional tensions and advance dialogue.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that Iran had initiated outreach for an in-person conversation, aligning with earlier calls from US leadership for direct engagement. She emphasized that diplomacy remains the primary approach of the US administration. “The President always wants to give diplomacy a chance. It’s always his first option, and he is willing to do that here again,” she noted.

Leavitt further said that Washington has observed what it describes as “some progress” from the Iranian side in recent days, expressing cautious optimism that further developments could emerge during upcoming weekend discussions.

The development comes amid continued diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and Iran. According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which both sides exchanged views on regional developments, the ceasefire situation, and diplomatic efforts related to US-Iran engagement.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the Foreign Office said both ministers discussed regional stability and stressed the importance of sustained diplomatic efforts. It added that Pakistan continues to pursue active diplomatic outreach aimed at supporting de-escalation and constructive engagement among regional stakeholders.

During the conversation, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar underlined the importance of “sustained dialogue and engagement to address outstanding issues, in order to advance regional peace and stability at the earliest.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister, in response, appreciated Pakistan’s “consistent and constructive facilitation role” in promoting dialogue and regional understanding.

Both sides agreed to remain in close contact and maintain coordination on matters of mutual concern, reflecting ongoing efforts to keep diplomatic channels active and support regional stability.

The latest exchanges highlight a broader diplomatic momentum involving the United States, Iran, and regional actors, with renewed emphasis on dialogue as a pathway to easing tensions.
