Iranian officials say civilians accounted for approximately 45 percent of those killed during the recent 40-day conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States.
According to the Islamic Republic News Agency, the total death toll has reached 3,468, including 1,460 civilians. The figures were presented in Tehran by Jamshid Nazmi, a senior adviser at the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs.
Nazmi said the civilian victims included men, women, children and elderly individuals, as well as foreign nationals from Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq and Pakistan.
At the same briefing, Farideh Oladqobad said 499 of those killed were women and 2,969 were men, while military fatalities totalled 2,008. The figures have not been independently verified.
Iranian authorities said the conflict began on February 28 following reported joint strikes on Iranian cities. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting military sites. A ceasefire was announced on April 8, though subsequent talks have yet to produce a lasting agreement.
