A court in Moscow has imposed a fresh fine on Google for breaching national regulations on restricting access to prohibited online content. The ruling was issued by the Tagansky District Court following multiple administrative hearings.
Authorities said the penalties across five cases total 19 million rubles (about $250,000). This adds to a series of fines previously imposed on the company, including an unprecedented penalty reportedly calculated in extremely large figures. Officials say enforcement actions are part of broader efforts to ensure compliance with local digital governance laws.
Russian regulators have tightened oversight of foreign digital platforms in recent years, citing non-compliance with domestic legislation. Several global services, including X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube, have also faced restrictions or blocking measures under similar grounds in Russia.
