WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump is set to receive a briefing from the United States Central Command commander on potential new military strategies concerning Iran, according to a report by Anadolu Agency citing Axios.
The planned briefing signals that Washington is weighing intensified measures amid stalled negotiations with Tehran. Among the options under consideration is a short, high-impact strike campaign targeting key Iranian infrastructure to increase pressure and push diplomatic progress.
Another proposal reportedly involves securing parts of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz to ensure uninterrupted commercial shipping. However, such an operation may require the deployment of ground forces and carries significant risks.
A further option includes a special forces mission aimed at securing Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, though experts consider such an operation highly complex.
Trump has previously suggested that a naval blockade could be more effective than direct airstrikes, signaling a preference for sustained pressure over immediate escalation.
US military planners are also assessing the possibility of Iranian retaliation against American forces in the region if such measures are implemented. Senior defense officials, including top military leadership, are expected to attend the high-level briefing.
