Mirpur (AJK), May 3 — Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore on Sunday announced ownership rights for families affected by unprovoked Indian shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) and resettled in Jinyal, Mirpur.
Addressing a ceremony attended by a large number of residents, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the resilience and sacrifices of displaced families who were forced to leave their homes due to cross-border shelling and rebuild their lives in new settlements. He said that from this day forward, the residents of Jinyal would be recognized as the rightful owners of the land where they had been living.
He congratulated the affected families and confirmed that a formal government notification had already been issued. The Prime Minister said the initiative aims to provide long-overdue justice and restore dignity to those who endured hardship due to conflict along the LoC.
He noted that the present government was continuing the welfare-oriented vision of former Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, who had previously granted ownership rights to refugees settled in Khaliqabad and nearby areas.
During the ceremony, the Prime Minister also announced the establishment of a dispensary in Jinyal to improve local healthcare services and ensure access to basic medical facilities.
He emphasized that the government was utilizing all available resources to strengthen public service delivery and address citizens’ concerns on a priority basis. He reiterated that public welfare and provision of essential facilities remain the central focus of government policy.
Referring to the broader political context, he praised the services of late Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry for highlighting the Kashmir issue internationally and serving the people with dedication.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Pakistan Peoples Party would continue its mission of public service and achieve success in the 2026 elections, focusing on welfare projects and improved living standards.
On arrival in Jinyal, he received a warm welcome. The ceremony was attended by ministers including Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, Chaudhry Akhlaq, and Chaudhry Arshad Hussain.
