Brunei’s Tourism Development Department is strengthening local tour guide skills in line with the Brunei Tourism Industry Roadmap to build a more professional tourism workforce.
A total of 17 local tour guides were awarded certificates on Monday after completing a basic training course designed to improve professional skills and service quality. The program equips participants with industry-standard competencies to enhance visitor experiences.
Officials said the initiative supports efforts to raise service standards in the tourism sector and promote sustainable industry growth. The training also focuses on communication skills, cultural knowledge, and customer service to ensure quality guidance for tourists.
Over the past decade, about 250 tour guides have registered with the Tourism Development Department and completed the basic training course. This reflects continued efforts to develop a skilled workforce and strengthen tourism infrastructure.
Authorities said improving human capital in tourism remains a key priority under national development plans, with ongoing programs aimed at enhancing professionalism and service excellence.
The initiative is expected to support Brunei’s efforts to attract more visitors by offering improved guided experiences and promoting the country as a well-prepared tourism destination.
