Palestinian National Council Chairman Rawhi Fattouh on Tuesday condemned Israel’s reported creation of a so-called “orange line” in the Gaza Strip, saying it aims to seize more Palestinian land and reduce the territory.
In a statement from Ramallah, he said the move extends what he described as colonial policies involving land confiscation, forced demographic change, and restrictions on Palestinian presence. He linked it to the previously reported “yellow line,” calling both part of a wider control strategy.
Fattouh stated that Israel already controls over 59 percent of Gaza, which he termed a violation of international law and existing agreements. He said such actions impose a “forced reality” on Palestinians.
He rejected any unilateral control over Gaza’s land and warned of further displacement risks.
Israeli authorities have not officially commented. However, Israeli media, including Kan TV, reported military adjustments to the “yellow line,” extending its position and leading to the reported “orange line.”
The “yellow line” was established during the first phase of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, separating Israeli-controlled areas from civilian zones in Gaza.
