Kiev: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday accused Russia of continuing military operations despite Ukraine’s proposal for a ceasefire, warning that Kiev would respond accordingly.
In a statement posted on Telegram, Zelensky said Russia had not suspended its military activity and continued attacks across several Ukrainian regions despite a ceasefire proposed by Kiev that came into effect at midnight.
He stated that seven Ukrainian regions were targeted on Wednesday and stressed that Ukraine’s response would depend on developments over the coming hours.
Zelensky reaffirmed that Ukraine remains committed to efforts aimed at achieving peace and ending the conflict with dignity.
Earlier this week, Russia’s Defense Ministry announced a ceasefire with Ukraine for May 8-9. On Monday, Zelensky also confirmed that Ukraine would implement a ceasefire starting Wednesday.
The latest statements reflect continuing tensions between both sides despite ongoing calls for de-escalation and diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
