MIRPUR: The Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur University of Science and Technology, has formally acknowledged the generous contributions of two philanthropists for establishing a fully furnished mosque and hall facility on campus dedicated exclusively for female students.
The facility, named “Masjid Dewan Begum and Dr. Zarish Nawaz Hall,” was donated by UK-based overseas Kashmiri Malik Abdul Ghafoor and Inspector Muhammad Luqman Jarral of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Inland Revenue Department. The initiative was undertaken in memory of their late grandmother and late wife respectively, reflecting a strong sense of social responsibility and spiritual devotion.
According to the university Public Relations Office, the Vice Chancellor Brig. (R) Prof. Dr. Younus Javed expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the administration, faculty, and students, appreciating the donors’ efforts in supporting the academic and spiritual environment of the institution.
The newly established mosque and hall provide a peaceful and dignified space for female students to perform daily prayers, recite the Holy Quran, and participate in religious gatherings such as Mahafil-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). The facility is also intended to offer comfort and spiritual enrichment alongside academic activities.
University officials highlighted that naming the hall “Dr. Zarish Nawaz Hall” honors the emotional and personal connection of Muhammad Luqman Jarral with his late wife, while the mosque project funded by Malik Abdul Ghafoor serves as an act of charity dedicated to his late grandmother, Dewan Begum.
The administration further reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining and effectively utilizing the facility for the benefit of students, ensuring a conducive environment for learning and spiritual development on campus.
Special prayers were also offered, seeking divine acceptance of the contributions as Sadaqah Jariyah and hoping the initiative will continue to benefit future generations of students.
