DHAKA: The Government of Bangladesh on Tuesday strongly condemned an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon that killed two Bangladeshi migrant workers, describing the attack as “heinous.”
In a statement, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the families of the victims. According to the Embassy of Bangladesh in Beirut, the bodies of the deceased are currently being kept at a hospital in Lebanon while arrangements are being made for their repatriation.
The ministry said the Bangladeshi mission in Beirut is coordinating with local Lebanese authorities to complete the required formalities for returning the bodies to Bangladesh.
Dhaka also voiced serious concern over the continuing violence and rising civilian casualties in the region. The statement urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and fully respect international humanitarian law amid ongoing military tensions.
The latest drone strike reportedly occurred despite continuing ceasefire efforts in southern Lebanon. Earlier in April, another Bangladeshi migrant worker was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut, raising further concern over the safety of foreign workers in the conflict-affected region.
