MIRPUR  ( AJK): May 13: Senior Superintendent of Police Mirpur Wednesday dismissed four police officers  including asub Inspector and three constables under Efficiency and Discipline Act 1992, for misuse of powers through targeting a local citizen of the police violence, it was officially said. Our Special Jammu Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports from Mirpur that according to an official order issued by the SSP Mirpur AJK  Khurram Iqbal here on Wednesday, the sacked police officials including  Shabbir Ahmed Sub-Inspector, Constable Imran Khan No. 110, Constable Ghulam Abbas No. 240, (both of District Police) Constable Zubair Ahmed No. 314 Rangers Police, currently posted  at Police Station Thothaal, Mirpur.  “The said police officials are dismissed from the service of the police on May 13, 2026 before noon, for the above offenses under section (B) of the E&D Act, 1992”, the offiial order said SSP Khurram Iqbal further said in his order that the  Line Officer will collect the official records of the numbers allotted to the sacked policemen and after submitting the NOC report, sending it to his office, according to the order. According to the afforesaid order issued by the SSP office here,  on the night of  May 12, 2026 ( Tuesday a video went viral on social media in which a police official vehicle was found chasing a white car in Sector F/2 in Mirpur city, jurisdiction of  Police Station City Mirpur wherein  the driver of the car had an accident with the vehicle coming from the opposite direction and stopped the car.  The police party got out of the official mobile police van and whisked  a person mentioned above from the car and beat him up in the  public.  On immsdiate?investigating into the matter, it was found that the official vehicle of the police that was chasing the car belonged to Police Station Thothal with Shabir Ahmed Sub-Inspector, Imran Khan 110, Ghulam Abbas 240 employees of District Police, Zubair Ahmed Constable No. 314 Rangers Police posted at the Police Station Thothal on board. The official dusmissal order continued that the SSP  conducted an oral inquiry from these employees assigned at Police Station Thothal, who could not respond any reasonable answer.  “If the people in the car were wanted by the police in a criminal case, it was the duty of the police officers to take legal action against the said people, but the act of the police officers present at the scene, clearly seen in the viral video, chasing the car, whisking the person from the car and beating him violently in public, falls under the category of exceeding their authority since the aforementioned police officials not only  humiliate the family in the car, but these officers also brought disrepute to the police department among the masses This act of these officers is a deliberate negligence in the discharge of their duties besides open carelessness”, the dismissal order said adding that since the said hostile act of the said cops falls in the category of concealment and abuse of authority besides an act that falls under the category of departmental liability, the said police officials are dismissed from service”, the order concluded.
