Qatar Promotes Waste Sorting Awareness Workshop

DOHA, May 18, 2026 — The National Human Rights Committee in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality organized an awareness workshop for workers and staff of the committee, focusing on waste sorting from the source and the Public Cleanliness Law.
The workshop, conducted by the Public Hygiene Department’s Awareness and Education Section, highlighted the objectives of the waste sorting programme and ways to support its implementation. It also reviewed key provisions of the Public Cleanliness Law aimed at preserving the country’s urban image and protecting the environment.
Qatar National Human Rights Committee Public Relations and Media Director Sultan Hamad Al-Hajri said workers represent an important segment of society and play a key role in achieving a clean and sustainable environment. He stressed the importance of such awareness workshops in enhancing workers’ knowledge of proper cleanliness practices and reducing the negative impact of waste on both people and the environment.
He praised the Ministry of Municipality for its efforts in promoting environmental awareness and supporting sustainable development goals.
Ministry of Municipality Public Hygiene Department Awareness Section Head Hamad Hassan Al-Tamimi said such training workshops are essential, noting that cooperation with external entities forms part of the ministry’s strategy to strengthen community partnerships. He added that coordination between institutions is key to achieving sustainable development and spreading environmental responsibility.
The workshop is part of ongoing initiatives to reach different segments of society and promote proper waste sorting and recycling practices in line with Qatar National Vision.
