DOHA, May 16, 2026 — The Qatar National Human Rights Committee participated in the 35th Doha International Book Fair, presenting a wide range of multilingual publications aimed at promoting awareness of human rights among citizens and residents.
Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah said the committee uses major public events to strengthen human rights awareness and ensure that individuals understand both their rights and responsibilities. She described the book fair as a key platform for reaching a wide audience due to its strong annual attendance.
She said the committee’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to public awareness, noting that it takes part in the fair every year. The committee also provides publications in multiple languages to ensure accessibility for diverse groups within society, including migrant workers.
Al Attiyah emphasized that human rights awareness is a core part of the committee’s mandate, implemented in cooperation with national institutions and in line with international principles promoting access to information and education.
She praised the strong turnout of citizens and residents at the fair, saying it reflects Qatar’s deep-rooted culture of knowledge and learning. She also highlighted the inclusion of the committee’s 2025 annual report, which outlines developments in human rights and recommendations for improvement.
The pavilion featured books, brochures, legal guides, children’s stories, and simplified educational materials, along with multilingual guides for workers explaining their rights and complaint procedures. All materials were distributed free of charge to visitors, reinforcing the committee’s outreach efforts across all segments of society.
