ANKARA: The Republic of Türkiye is working with all relevant institutions to ensure the safe return of its citizens detained by Israel following the intervention against the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla, Anadolu Agency reported.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Thursday that special flights scheduled for later in the day are expected to bring Turkish citizens as well as participants from third countries back to Türkiye.
He emphasized that Ankara is taking necessary diplomatic and consular steps to protect the rights and safety of its nationals. Fidan also reaffirmed Türkiye’s humanitarian commitment toward civilians in Gaza and its support for the Palestinian people.
The Foreign Ministry said Türkiye is coordinating with international partners to ensure a smooth repatriation process. It added that efforts are underway to complete arrangements for the return of detainees in an orderly manner.
Türkiye continues to monitor the situation and maintain engagement with relevant authorities, prioritizing humanitarian considerations and citizen protection.
