U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday signed a proclamation adjusting tariffs under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 on aluminum, steel, and copper imports, the White House said.
According to a White House fact sheet, tariffs on agricultural equipment, including combines and harvesters, and other machinery are reduced from 25 percent to 15 percent.
The proclamation also expands industrial equipment subject to a 15 percent tariff to include mobile machinery such as bulldozers and forklifts.
It lowers the threshold for imported products to qualify as made “entirely” from American metals to 85 percent from 95 percent, easing a requirement introduced in the April 2 tariff proclamation.
The measure encourages greater use of U.S. metals by allowing a 10 percent duty rate for products with at least 85 percent U.S.-melted, poured, or smelted and cast steel or aluminum.
The White House said the changes take effect on June 8 and remain in place until December 31, 2027.
Trump previously invoked Section 232 in 2018 to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum and later expanded duties on copper after returning to office in 2025.
