WASHINGTON, June 24 — US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that American inspectors will participate in International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) missions when inspections of Iran’s uranium facilities resume. Speaking to Fox News, Trump said there was no urgency to deploy the teams but confirmed they would join future inspection efforts.
Trump said nuclear material remains buried beneath debris at Iranian facilities damaged during US-Israeli airstrikes in June 2025. Iran has not officially responded to the remarks.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reaffirmed that inspections of Iranian enrichment facilities would proceed under existing agreements. He stressed that all activities involving monitored nuclear materials must remain under IAEA supervision.
Trump also outlined plans for limited economic relief for Tehran, saying the initial package would involve about $500 million in American goods rather than direct cash payments. US officials said the arrangement is linked to Treasury Department oil waivers and depends on Iran meeting its commitments under the agreement.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said frozen Iranian funds held in Gulf countries could be released under strict oversight. He noted that much of the money would be used to purchase US agricultural products and medicines, with Treasury officials monitoring spending to ensure the funds benefit the Iranian people.
