A cargo vessel came under attack on Sunday in the Red Sea off Yemen’s coast, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The incident was reported approximately 30 nautical miles southwest of Al Hudaydah.
UKMTO said it received a distress alert from the vessel, indicating it was under attack by unidentified armed assailants. The alert was transmitted while the ship was operating in a busy maritime corridor.
The agency confirmed that investigations are underway to determine the nature and source of the attack. It has advised all vessels in the region to exercise heightened caution and to report any suspicious or unusual activity immediately.
No further details regarding the vessel’s identity, damage, or possible casualties were available at the time of reporting. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as maritime security concerns persist in Red Sea shipping routes.
