The General Directorate of Drugs Prevention launched the Arab Week for Drug Prevention on Thursday at Place Vendôme Mall, coinciding with the International Day Against Drug Abuse, bringing together government institutions, healthcare organizations, and community partners to promote awareness and strengthen drug prevention efforts.
Among the participating organizations was Daam Behavioral Healthcare Center, which showcased its ongoing initiatives to raise awareness of behavioral health and prevent substance abuse through education and community engagement.
Speaking to rki.news on the sidelines of the event, Ms. Najla Al-Kuwari from the center’s Public Relations Department highlighted Daam Behavioral Healthcare Center’s role in promoting behavioral healthcare awareness. She said the center is committed to providing awareness, treatment, rehabilitation, and training services in the field of behavioral healthcare. The center also works to support individuals affected by behavioral disorders and to develop qualified specialists in behavioral and cognitive therapy.
Al-Kuwari explained that the center’s participation was aimed at educating the public about behaviors that may lead to drug abuse and addiction. She noted that this was the fifth time the center had taken part in such awareness activities, reflecting its continued commitment to community outreach and prevention.
The center’s exhibition featured educational materials, publications, and interactive activities for children designed to encourage positive behavior and increase awareness of behavioral health issues among families and the wider community.
Established in 2014, Daam Behavioral Healthcare Center operates under the Qatar Social Work Foundation and continues to conduct awareness campaigns, workshops, and community outreach programmes to support prevention efforts and promote healthy lifestyles across society.
The Arab Week for Drug Prevention provided an important platform for collaboration among government institutions, healthcare organizations, and community partners, reinforcing their shared commitment to raising public awareness, preventing drug abuse, and promoting healthier communities throughout Qatar.
