Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that no date has been finalized for his expected visit to Washington, while acknowledging differences remain between his government and US President Donald Trump on certain issues.
In an interview with Fox News, Netanyahu said that although disagreements occasionally arise, both sides continue to discuss them openly. He added that arrangements for the visit have not yet been completed and expressed hope that peace could be achieved with Lebanon.
Addressing Iran, Netanyahu described Tehran as “not a friend” of Washington and reiterated Israel’s position that Iran must never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons or the capability to deliver them.
The United States and Israel have long accused Iran of pursuing nuclear and missile programs they say threaten Israel and other regional allies. Iran rejects the allegations, maintaining that its nuclear activities are exclusively peaceful.
The remarks came after Iran and the United States reached a memorandum of understanding on June 17 aimed at ending the military conflict that began on Feb. 28. The agreement provides a framework for negotiations on a ceasefire, sanctions relief, the nuclear issue, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and broader regional security arrangements.
