BERLIN, July 15 (Xinhua): The global automotive sector is undergoing a major transformation driven by electrification, digital technologies and software-defined vehicles, highlighting the importance of international cooperation between China and Europe.
While some European voices view China’s rapid growth in new energy vehicles (NEVs) as a challenge, many leading European automakers are expanding partnerships with Chinese companies to strengthen innovation and competitiveness.
Volkswagen’s growing activities in China reflect this trend. The company has established a research, development and testing center in Hefei, Anhui Province, enabling faster vehicle development and shorter innovation cycles.
German automotive experts have acknowledged China’s progress in electric vehicles, noting improvements in technology, quality and pricing. They emphasize that cooperation and fair competition can support industry growth and benefit consumers.
China provides the world’s largest NEV market and a dynamic innovation environment, while Europe contributes strong engineering expertise and established automotive brands. The combination of these strengths creates opportunities for mutual growth.
European companies, including Bosch, BASF and Siemens Healthineers, continue expanding investments in China, while Chinese firms such as CATL and NIO are increasing their presence in Germany.
The experience of both sides shows that openness and practical cooperation can help accelerate green transformation, innovation and sustainable development in the global automotive industry.
